So, when you log onto the server, you see different non-donator ranks: Admins, Mods, Chat Mods, and Helpers. So, what exactly is a helper? Well, it is basically a normal Savage Realms player who enjoys bettering the server community by answering questions that are too simple for higher ranks. Of course, not saying that Admins can't answer simple questions; it's just not as productive for the time that they can spend improving the Savage Realms Server Universe. This guide will inform you on how to gain the role and keep it (unless of course, possible promote).
Earning the Helper Role
To have any chance of being appointed by Acidsin, you must post a well thought through application on either/both of these threads: Main Server and PvP Raid Server .
Now, here are some Tips in earning the rank:
a) It is but a title; help even though you're not a helper. That includes saying, "Welcome (name) to Savage Realms!" and answering basic questions.
b) Don't bug people about it. Acidsin doesn't need fifty reminders about "Helper Reviews being today". He knows, it's just that the Savage Team is busy considering having three servers (two "real" ones), and filling the needs of the community as a whole. Also, if people really approve of you being a helper, they will like your post. /telling people to "like your application" unintentionally tells the person that people can't see you helping without you telling them.
c) Be active on the forums. The forums is what keeps the community going, and the community is what keeps the server going. Without the forums, the staff would have no connection with each other, same as the players. Be familiar with stickied threads so you can reference them on command.
d) Don't expect anything. In other words, don't be so smug that Acidsin loves you. Not everyone can become a helper. However, keep repeating the steps above and try, try again.
Owning the Helper Role
What's the point of having a bike if you never ride it? Take the opportunity the Savage Gods have given you, and own the Helper Role. Here are a few basic things that are meld into the Helper status:
a) Never see a player not welcomed. One of the great things I love about this server that is unique to Savage Realms is the staff welcoming new players. When you see "Welcome BlueJayWay to the server!", they really mean it! Also, if someone accuses you of being an automated robot plugin, act appalled at their statement.
b) Answer Questions in a Spree. This method may not work for you, but this is generally what I do. I like taking shifts with answering questions and playing on the server. If you see me running around and jumping in spawn, it's because I'm waiting for questions. I know for myself that if I start doing something else, I wouldn't want to answer a person's question because my mindset would intercept it as an interruption.
c) Post on the Minecraft Forums. In addition to the Savage Realms Enjin Forums, we have the forums at http://www.minecraftforums.net. The two server pages are here: Main Server and PvP Raid Server . We have made the forums into an "auto whitelist system" which helps bump our forum threads. I suggest replying to a person's whitelist application and saying "Welcome to Savage Realms! PM me ingame if you have any questions!". Each post gets you ingame iConomy for the server!
d) If you want it, cease it! Don't expect to get Chat Mod just by being a Helper. Pay your theoretical fifty cents to the server and help sustain server superiority!
Also: Helpers need to be unique. Try finding some kind of venue that you're better in than everyone else.
Here's my final note, inspired by Tosiek. Never be a helper for money, ranks, etc. The way you worked it based on motivation, so try to keep yourself in a mindset to where you just plainly want to help.
