Hello reader, its Finstaaa again bringing you a new "small" guide for those who have questions about the chat. AS always I am making this thread primarily to help new players with Chat related questions, and other members of staff can refer people to here if their answer would normally be too lengthy for typing out.
So to begin with, the plugin Savage Realms uses is a slight tweak to the popular HeroChat. The Owners always like to slightly alter their plugins to fit exactly with the server. In this there a few basic commands you will encounter. This is what I'll be going over today with you.
=============================================================
Non Selective Chats
First off is the command " /ch g " . This is the most basic of the commands in HeroChat, and will always do the same thing, and that is refer you back to talking in global chat. The "ch" part stands for "Channel" and the "g" stands for "global", so it's pretty simple if you think about it. An alternative to typing out this could be to type out "/g", although I am used to "/ch g" because I'm old school. No matter what chat your in ( only exception is /p chat ) it will shane back to a chat everyone can here. This is the chat that is most commonly used for questions, answers and general 'chit-chat'.
Next up is the command " /ch l ". This chat allows the player's chat to be heard over a certain radius. Its text colour is yellow, therefore distinguishing it form the global chat. Again the 'ch' stands for channel but this time the 'l' stands for 'local'. So local chat.Again there is alternative to this which is "/l" It is most commonly used for in chatting in dugeons or in events, times where you only want to talk to the players doing the same things as you.
And then the last of the 'non selective chats' is " /t ". This more commonly known as 'Trade Chat' and is used thusly. One must simply type " /t (message) " for it to work and it will send out a message to everyone in blue writing. This chat is to be used ONLY for trading items, not for questions, chit-chat nor town recruitment.
Selective Chats
So onto the selective chats. First off is " /tell ". This is the most common command for messages and is more commonly call "pm" which stands for "private message". To use this you must type in " /tell (then the player you want to tell) (then your message you way to send) ". This chat will come up in bright pink letters and will stand out from the rest of the speech. Another way of messaging someone is with the "/mail" command. By using "/mail (player) (message)" they will receive the message even if they ate not online. This message will come up if they type out "/mail read" and erased when typed "/mail clear".
Next is " /tc ". This command stands for "Town Chat" and once typed, it will automatically lock you into it. This message will come up as Dark Blue and the only people who will be able to see this message will be in your town. This is most commonly used for town events, welcoming people into the town you are in or setting someone up with a house.
And finally there is " /p ". This I know is not in the plugin but another one, but it relates to chat and I thought I may just add it in. This command is used for people who are in "parties", no not the ones where you get drunk and throw up on the nearest girl, but ones where all the members inside the party cannot harm you in any PvP area. Using this chat command will give you the ability to talk soupy to the players in your party. Also to note, this chat will turn up as a Bright Green colour in the chat.
=============================================================
And there you have it, a complete guide to the chat system used in Savage Realms. One more thing I want to mention is that there are players on the server with the rank of [ Chat Mod ]. These players will have the perms to mute, kick and report you if you are spamming or repeatedly using swears or CAPS-LOCK.
